PRSA Richmond Seeks Volunteers for Student Shadowing Week

PRSA Richmond is sponsoring Student Shadowing Week Oct. 25-29 and is seeking members to mentor to area college students.

The Student Relations and Diversity Committees are in the process of coordinating the initiative with schools in the Central Virginia area. The program will pair participating sophomores, juniors and seniors with Richmond PR professionals, giving students the opportunity to “shadow” the professionals to gain exposure and a better understanding of opportunities in public relations.

Chapter members are being asked to allow students to shadow them for as many days as you can accommodate during that week, as well as invite them to be their special guests at the Oct. 27 PRSA luncheon. The cost for students to attend the luncheon will be covered by the Chapter.

Independent practitioner members who do not work in traditional office settings can still participate in the program by volunteering whatever time they can to meet with students and share their experiences and expertise, as well as bring them as guests to the luncheon.

If you are interested in being a mentor for Student Shadowing Week, please contact Carol Kyber at 804-678-9619 or ckyber1@comcast.net.
