PRSA Richmond will offer free professional communications assistance to the Partnership for Families Northside through its 2012 Nonprofit Alliance program.
The Partnership for Families Northside works collaboratively with more than a dozen nonprofit agencies and public sector partners to ensure that young children are prepared to enter school healthy, on-time and ready-to-learn.
“We’re very grateful to receive PRSA Richmond’s support,” said Stan Southworth, executive director of the Partnership for Families Northside. “PRSA’s guidance and counsel will help us more effectively communicate our services to strengthen our outreach and impact in the community.”
The Partnership was chosen after a thorough judging process. More than 30 organizations applied for assistance in one of three areas: strategic planning, event management or public relations tactics, said Glenn Birch, director of public and media relations for Virginia Credit Union and chair of the Public Service Committee for PRSA Richmond.
Chet Wade, managing director of corporate communications for Dominion Resources, will serve as the leader of the team working directly with the Partnership this year.
PRSA Richmond will help the Partnership develop a research-based communications plan to raise awareness of the organization among constituents, partner agencies and community leaders. Having completed a 5-year strategic planning process, the Partnership will benefit from PRSA’s assistance in developing effective communications tactics to support its goals.
“PRSA Richmond is extremely proud of the Nonprofit Alliance program and the work it does to support our community,” said Jeff Wilson, APR, president, PRSA Richmond and associate vice president at CRT/tanaka. “Throughout the year, the Chapter will apply the professional experience of its members to help the Partnership for Families Northside develop a comprehensive and research-driven communications plan that will help the organization make a greater impact in the Richmond area.”
The Public Service Committee will also provide a free workshop for the nonprofit organizations that applied for PRSA’s assistance but were not selected. Windy Campbell of Campbell Communications is organizing that effort.
PRSA Richmond members who would like to volunteer to work with the Partnership for Families Northside, or to offer help at the workshop for nonprofit organizations, are encouraged to contact Glenn Birch,
