Fall is in the air, which means it’s time for back-to-school shopping and fall football games. Soon we’ll be pulling those fall sweaters and blazers out of storage. It also means it’s time to fall back into PRSA. Your PRSA Richmond board of directors has stayed busy this summer planning exciting programs for the fall.
Starting off the fall lineup will be a terrific membership meeting on Sept. 26, “Understanding the LGBT Consumer: An $800 Billion Dream Market.” Coming from the West Coast, our featured speaker will be Steve Roth, principal and founder of OutThink Partners, a leading communications and marketing agency specializing in the LGBT market. Steve also is president-elect of PRSA Los Angeles.
The Public Service Committee has been busy working with Partnership for Families Northside, the nonprofit organization chosen from among 31 that applied for free PR assistance through PRSA Richmond’s 2012 Nonprofit Alliance program. The Public Service Committee also is planning a free PR workshop on Oct. 5 for the remaining 30 nonprofits, scheduled for 8:30-11:30 a.m. at Partnership for Nonprofit Excellence, 7501 Boulders View Drive in Richmond. If you’re interested in volunteering, please contact Glenn Birch, public service chair.
The Philadelphia Chapter was gracious enough to judge our award entries this year. Now it’s our turn to do the same. Reciprocal judging is being planned for the week of Oct. 22 at CRT/tanaka at 101 West Commerce Road in Richmond. Philadelphia is requesting that each of their entries be judged independently by two judges with at least one being an APR. Judging can be applied toward APR maintenance requirements. If you’re interested, contact Catherine Gryp, vice president of awards.

Thanks to Linda Evans and the rest of the foundation board for all their efforts fundraising and publicizing/reviewing scholarship applications.
