The weather may still be cold, but spring is on the way! As we say goodbye to winter, now is the perfect time to get active - to grow and renew your commitment to getting professionally fit this year. And we have some exciting opportunities in the next couple months to help you do just that!
Here’s what’s new …
· March 27 Membership Meeting: Overwhelmed by social media management? Wondering why content creation seems harder and harder and generating fewer and fewer results? With so many platforms and ways to consume media, it’s no wonder! Join us on March 27 to get some answers from Jon Newman of The Hodges Partnership. He will share his thoughts, experiences and recommendations on how to create content for social media and best talk with each of your social audiences. This is going to be a popular program, so sign up early!
· 66th Annual Virginia PR Awards: The award entries are in! Who will win? Who will be Best in Show? We’ll also be recognizing this year’s Thomas Jefferson Award and Rising Star Award recipients. Come join us for the awards dinner on Wednesday, May 15, at the historic Jefferson Hotel in downtown Richmond. If you’d like to volunteer to help with the awards or are interested in new amenity sponsorship opportunities (like champagne!), contact Vice President for Awards Rachel Beanland at email@example.com. If your organization is interested in being a PRSA Richmond sponsor, contact our Sponsorships – Development Chair Elia Imler at firstname.lastname@example.org.
· Free Professional PR Assistance for Area Nonprofits: PRSA Richmond is still accepting applications from area nonprofit organizations for free professional public relations assistance through the 2013 Nonprofit Alliance. Nonprofit organizations may apply for assistance with strategic planning, organization of a public event, or assistance with communications tactics such as media relations, social media, or internal communications. The PRSA Public Service Committee will review applications and select one organization to support in 2013. In addition, a free public relations workshop will be organized for all nonprofit organizations that apply. The application deadline is end of day Monday, April 1. Please contact Public Service Committee Chair Glenn Birch at email@example.com for more information.
· Section highlight: New to public relations? – E-mail Megan Semmelman at firstname.lastname@example.org to get involved with our active Next Wave group and enjoy sharing tips and best practices and networking.
