Event Description

Bringing Lincoln to Richmond: A Behind-the Scenes Look from the Virginia Film Office

On deciding to shoot his film, "Lincoln," in Virginia, Steven Spielberg said "Virginia's rich historic legacy, coupled with the remarkable period architecture found in Richmond and Petersburg, make Central Virginia the ideal location for this production.”

But it wasn't just the unique attributes of the commonwealth that sealed the production deal. The Virginia Film Office worked with the cities of Richmond and Petersburg for more than eight years to secure the project, and the incentive package included $1 million from the Governor’s Motion Picture Opportunity Fund, $2.5 million from the Virginia Motion Picture Tax Credit program and $1.1 million in in-kind contributions.

Join us as Andrew Edmunds from the Virginia Film Office gives a behind-the-scenes look into bringing a major motion picture to Richmond.

FREE PARKING!  PRSA Richmond will provide free parking to our members and guests in the parking deck at 5thand Marshall Streets for each of our monthly luncheons. Bring the ticket from the machine to the Chapter’s registration desk, and we’ll swap the ticket for a PAID voucher ticket.

RSVP Policy:

In order to comply with the guarantee policy of the Downtown Richmond Marriott, all RSVPs for lunch meetings must be made by 11:45 p.m. on MONDAY of the week of a meeting. After that time, members and guests will need to call Sara Hunt at (804) 994-1120 to see if space is still available or to be put on a waiting list if needed. Please RSVP early in order to ensure that you are included in the headcount for lunch!

If you register as a guest and later determine that you cannot attend, please contact Sara Hunt, Chapter Administrator, at prsarichmond@comcast. You must cancel prior to 3 business days in advance of the meeting to be eligible for a refund. If you cancel after that deadline, you will still be responsible for the lunch payment and will be billed if you didn't already pay online. No-shows will be billed for the lunch.
